Bandit was and still is jet black. At birth, he had a black shiny coat. He has a twig of white on his tail and a few sprigs of white on his chest. Bandit is now. 8 months old and whatever white he had is 100% gone. His nose amd lips are black, his mustache every part of his coat and under coat is black..beautiful!

Hi, Janice Here from Miracle Shih Tzu
-------------------------------------
I have taken the liberty of adding a couple of pictures of my puppies to this post for illustration purposes only. Christine, if you want to come back to the post and upload Bandit's photos, please do so. You can also use my contact form on this website to contact me and send the photos by email if that is easier.
It has been my experience so far, that almost 100% of my black puppies stay black. I have two adult black dogs, both siblings that are now about five years old. One has shown a little bit of graying on her back but still mostly black.
I have also had quite a few black puppies produced by both of these black dogs (not together--I don't breed siblings), and they have some prominent white areas when they are born. By the time they leave here at 8 or 9 weeks old, it is difficult to see where the white went.
There seems to be some myth circulating by people not very familiar with the breed. They are telling people that there is no such thing as a fully black Shih Tzu. I've even heard these people claim that a Shih Tzu that is all black is not a pure Shih Tzu.
THIS IS FALSE. There are plenty of all black Shih Tzu around, they just are not as common as those that have some white on them.
