by Janice at Miracle Shih Tzu
(Ohio, USA)
Beannie was our gold Shih Tzu male with a black mask, who passed away last year at the age of 13. He is best known to us for his Beannie babies and to his former owners at Shih Tzu Factory, as Mr. Kool Beans Praise Yahweh, from Texas. U.S.A.
We had Beanie as we called him for about 3 years before he passed on. He was not only a wonderful father and stud, but a friend and pet to us.
Beanie was a true alpha male--calm and self assured. He was never one to fight his way to the top, he just knew he was already there.
He loved the ladies and took care of babies. But most of all, he loved all of us. His eyes were large, dark and round. You knew immediately when he looked into your eyes that he could see clear through to your soul.
He was never demanding, yet there for you if you needed him. We have his son, a daughter, and a granddaughter, but there will never be another Beanie.
Beanie was a dog with all the great qualities we love in Shih Tzu dogs. He never saw the show circuit, but would have been a great show dog had we or his previous owners allowed it.
He was the ultimate Shih Tzu dog, both in terms of standard breed, personality and look and feel of the breed.
Beyond the standard, Beannie was a just a great pet. He showed all the signs of being a great dog--through his personality, the breed standard, and his health record. There were no signs of health problems until the day that he departed from us.
Our Beannie will be missed not only by us but by his previous owners as an outstanding Shih Tzu, stud, and representative of the Shih Tzu breed, capable of offering friendship, love, and loyalty to his owners.

I hold an undergraduate degree in Psychology with a minor in biology, Early Childhood Education, and Nursing, and a Master's in Mental Health Counseling.
I'm a lifelong learner, a dog lover, and passionate about the welfare of animals. Though Shih Tzu is my favorite breed, I've also lived with Poodles, Maltese, Yorkshire Terriers, Beagles, English Bulldogs, Carin Terriers, and a Cocker Spaniel. Little critters that shared my space included guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, hamsters, mice, tropical fish, and birds. (Oh, and one crayfish and hermit crab that my daughter brought home from school)
When not writing, reading, and researching dog-related topics, I love spending time with my 6 Shih Tzu dogs, husband, and family, as well as knitting and crocheting. She is also the voice behind Small Dog Place and Smart-Knit-Crocheting. Please visit my other two sites or send me a note.
